Penélope Cruz Sánchez (Spanish pronunciation: [peˈnelope kruθ ˈsantʃeθ]; born April 28, 1974) is a Spanish actress. Signed by an agent at age 15, she made her acting debut at 16 on television and her feature film debut the following year in Jamón, jamón (1992), to critical acclaim. Her subsequent roles in the 1990s and 2000s included Open Your Eyes (1997), The Hi-Lo Country (1999), The Girl of Your Dreams (2000) and Woman on Top (2000). Cruz achieved recognition for her lead roles in the 2001 films Vanilla Sky and Blow.

She has since built a successful career, appearing in films from a wide range of genres, including the comedy Waking Up in Reno (2002), the thriller Gothika (2003), the Christmas movie Noel (2004), and the action adventure Sahara (2005). She has received critical acclaim for her roles in Volver (2006) and Nine (2009) receiving Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for each. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2008 for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She was the first Spanish actress in history to receive an Academy Award and the first Spanish actress to receive a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.[1][2]

Cruz has modeled for companies such as Mango, Ralph Lauren and L’Oréal. Penélope and her younger sister Mónica Cruz have designed items for Mango. She has donated both her time and money to charities. Cruz has volunteered in Uganda and India, where she spent one week working for Mother Teresa; she donated her salary from The Hi-Lo Country to help fund the late nun’s mission. A wax sculpture of Cruz will be placed in a premier spot in the Grevin Wax Museum in Paris. [3]

Rebecca Maria Hall (born 19 May 1982)[1] is an English actress.

In 2003, Hall won the Ian Charleson Award for her debut stage performance in a production of Mrs. Warren’s Profession.[2] She has appeared in the films The Prestige, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe, The Town and Frost/Nixon.

In June 2010, Hall won the Supporting Actress BAFTA for her portrayal of Paula Garland in the 2009 Channel 4 production Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1974.[3]

Hall was born in London, UK, the daughter of Peter Hall, a stage director and founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Maria Ewing, an opera singer. Her father is English and her mother, who is American, is of Dutch, Scottish, Sioux, and African American origin.[4][5][6] Her parents separated when she was still young, and they divorced in 1990.[7] She has a half-brother, Edward Hall, who is a theatre director, and four other half-siblings,[7] including theatre designer Lucy Hall, veteran TV drama producer Christopher Hall, and Jennifer Caron Hall, a writer and painter.[citation needed]

Hall attended Roedean School, where she became head girl.[7] She studied English Literature at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, before dropping out in 2002 just before her final year.[8][7][9] During her time at Cambridge, she appeared in a number of plays and set up a theatre company.[10] She was a member of the Marlowe Society and starred alongside Dan Stevens in several critically acclaimed productions.[11][12]

Flames, it has been one of the most coveted shows during the Copenhagen Fashion Week A/W13 – the venue has been jam packed as you are able to imagine. Since on that day, at that hour what seemed to be whole Copenhagen has been dying to know what Vivienne Westwood has lined up for us and this Autumn/Winter, I found it really difficult capturing what has not promised to much – a preview of design I will be craving for later this year – once the collection hits the store. Amongst my hot favourites were the barbed wire knit two -piece in red and grey and I ask myself how did no one before Westwood turn such simple idea into must have wardrobe pieces. Vivienne Westwood is known for her critical view on political and environmental issues as long as we’ve known her – somehow I had the feeling that this collection is more light hearted and youthful than what I have seen the past seasons before in stores and on the web – especially in the print section I detect a more playful twist of Vivienne Westwood Anglomania.

I was glad being able to capture one or the other outfit or detail for you despite massive attendance and I hope that you are excited as I am to be amongst the first to know what is coming in- about seven months from now…

TREND ALERT: BLOCK STRIPES WITH TALLY WEIJL

Flames, I’m as giddy as a school girl to finally present you my first results of a photo session with very talented Austrian photographer Lothar – and if that alone wasn’t great enough, I also teamed up with young and trendy Suisse fashion brand Telly Weijl, who let me pick three pieces of my choice. It was so hard to choose from this absolutely covetable SS13 collection that offers all that fashionista’s worldwide are craving for at the moment: mystic aztec prints alongside fresh florals, comic prints and camouflage pastels. For this session with the photographer I chose a block stripe jeans – because I think block stripes are going to have a big moment this summer, after I have seen them across Spring/Summer 13 runways from Dolce&Gabanna to Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton.

The beauty of Tally Weijl clothing is that it is affordable fashion that suits an average budget of most of us, furthermore I was truly amazed about the quality – the denim is super-soft and the fit serves their slogan: ‘Totally sexy’ well! So I combined the fringed poncho top and the block stripe jean with some of my personal favourites. Unfortunately – I must say – Tally Weijl doesn’t run an online shop yet, but it is well worth having a look at their new collection and if you are so lucky to live in one of the 31 countries that do have a Telly Weijl store – you should definitely pop in!

Natasha T. Henstridge (born August 15, 1974) is a Canadian actress and former fashion model. Her most notable on-screen roles include Species, The Whole Nine Yards, The Whole Ten Yards, It Had To Be You, Ghosts of Mars, She Spies, the TV series Eli Stone, and the Canadian TV mini-series Would Be Kings, for which she won the Gemini Award for best actress. Her most recent regular role is as Dawn Chamberlain in the TV series The Secret Circle.

Early life

Henstridge was born in Springdale, Newfoundland, the daughter of Helen Henstridge, a homemaker, and Brian Henstridge, a construction manager and business owner.[1][2] She was raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada with her younger brother, Shane.

Modeling career

At the age of 14, Henstridge entered the Casablanca Modeling Agency’s “Look of the Year” contest and was chosen first runner-up. The following year, she went to Paris to pursue her modeling ambitions. At 15, she was featured on her first magazine cover, the French edition of Cosmopolitan. Several more magazine covers followed and Henstridge went on to do television commercials for products such as Olay, Old Spice, and Lady Stetson. Her modeling career established, Henstridge moved on to a career in movies.

Film

In her 1995 film debut Species, Henstridge played Sil, a genetically engineered alien/human hybrid created from a message received by SETI, who breaks free from the captivity of a laboratory. Pursued by a team of experts who band together to stop her before she multiplies, Sil embarks on a killing spree while also discovering her powerful instinct to mate. Species was an instant hit, making $113 million (USD) at the box office.[3] Notable for its sexual content, the film won Henstridge the MTV Movie award for “best kiss” for a scene in which her character, while kissing an aggressive would-be suitor, impales his head on her tongue. In 1998, she played Eve, a more ambiguous genetic duplicate of Sil, in Species II, which was a failure at the box office.

A few smaller independent movies followed, including Bela Donna and Dog Park, with varied box office returns. Henstridge starred opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in the action/adventure movie Maximum Risk. She also starred in the 2000 film The Whole Nine Yards and its 2004 sequel The Whole Ten Yards. Despite having some reservations about the science fiction genre, she signed up for John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars (2001) in the lead role. The film was not well-received, with a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.[4] In 2004, she briefly appeared as Eve in Species III.
